For the DV - what does Cartoony mean? So far Raf and Vicki say it needs to be pinpointed, only you say it stands on its own... except you don't say what this universal meaning you feel all designers have of cartoony means. I believe thats the case because the question itself is bad and only stands to produce bad answers.
I've been bugging my friends for feedback, and they seem to think the images are too cartoony looking. I don't really know how to fix this, so I welcome suggestions from the professionals! EDIT I followed some of your all's recommendations. The new image is: I redid the star from scratch entirely. My friends really like the new look of it.
I never had the chance to make my own back in the day as internet was a luxury commodity for my family but I would love to be able to make my own backgrounds and gifs that loosely follow the same strange mix of grainy quality, 2.5D models and cartoony whatevers.
It's always tricky to look for something when what you need is the name. I'm working on a videogame and I'd like to give general instructions for sprites. This is an example of the style I'm talking
I'm drawing character sprites for a game and using Illustrator to finish off the sort of cartoony style and put it in a resizeable, lossless format. I figured this forum would be the proper place for this question despite my intent not being graphic design since I'm using tools graphic designers use and might know more about.
After the quick discussion, I have used before a simple icon of an eye. It's simple but sometimes can be a bit cartoony. Other ways I experimented with is to have the other icons overlaid on each other in your one icon, so it shows "all tabs." You ocould also have some sort of columned icon, like a 3 row/column table, but might not be as effective. Hope some of that helps :)
