Proof that music knows no walls. In 1953, The Prisonaires (an all-inmate vocal group from the Tennessee State Penitentiary) were transported under armed guard to Memphis to record at Sun Records. Their hit “Just Walkin’ in the Rain,” written by lead singer Johnny Bragg at just 17 years old, sold over 250,000 copies and became one of Sun’s biggest early successes.
